Hey, I'm Sophie
Project manager. Parent. An expat living in Zurich, Switzerland.
Several years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Switzerland wasn’t part of the plan laid out years ago. Like many international relocations, it kicked off with a job opportunity and soon grew into something far larger.
The initial months were demanding — new systems, newer routines, fresh expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more complex than they should have been.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of learning on the job. Yet, gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt secure.
Why I Built PixelGroveForge
Most information online hovered around corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family point of view.
This site exists to bridge that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Switzerland.
What this site represents (and what it does not)
This site is:
- Practical experience from living in Switzerland
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated when something genuinely changes
This site isn't:
- An official tourism authority resource
- A paid review platform
- Just another generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our time in Switzerland continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Zurich or anywhere in Switzerland, feel free to reach out.
Cheers,
Sophie
